With the generous support from all sectors, Haven of Hope Christian Service (hereinafter referred to as “Haven of Hope”) is celebrating its 70th anniversary this year. We have been serving the residents of Tseung Kwan O and Sai Kung Districts with the spirit of “Respecting Life · Impacting Life.” Haven of Hope attaches great importance to the needs of the community in terms of body, mind, society, and spirit. We integrate holistic and spiritual care into our services, allowing those being served to experience life transformation in God’s love. To meet the overall development needs of Hong Kong and Haven of Hope, we launched “The Haven Project” in 2016, a 10-year plan aimed at providing innovative and high-quality medical and social services to the public. In support of the project’s development, we will hold the “In the Name of Love” HOHCS Charity Walk 2023 on Saturday, 16 December 2023, from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM at the Clearwater Bay Golf and Country Club to raise funds for the project.

It not only encourages active participation in fundraising but also provides a precious opportunity for participants to spend loving and joyful time with their family and friends and create happy memories together.

During the walk around Clearwater Bay golf course, participants can enjoy the beautiful natural scenery leisurely. After completing the walk, they can take part in our thoughtfully arranged games and enjoy the outstanding performances, to experience the joy brought by these fun activities. The event also provides an opportunity for fostering community engagement as participants are connected with one another.

All in all, the event generates a positive impact and spreads love in the community.

Purpose of Fundrasing

“In the Name of Love” HOHCS Charity Walk 2023 aims to raise funds for The Haven Project, a 10-year capital development project that has been spearheaded since 2016. The project includes infrastructural development, extension projects, and service quality improvements, all with the goal of bringing new hope to those who quest for quality healthcare services. “Bold to innovate” is the core value of HOHCS’s services. Over the years, HOHCS has been serving the society with the spirit of “Respecting Life · Impacting Life” inherited from Sister Annie Skau, the founder of HOHCS. Ageing population has become acute in Tseung Kwan O in recent years, posing tremendous challenges to the community. The Haven Project was thus launched, aiming to provide faith-based quality medical services to serve those in need through integrating HOHCS network’s know-how and experience. This 10-year plan will advance and renovate the existing services through new infrastructure, addressing the community’s demands and living up to the core value of HOHCS.

The 5 capital development projects are as follows:

Your generous support will drive HOHCS to move forward and innovate. You are cordially invited to support this meaningful event. While enjoying the walk and activities we have prepared, you will contribute to drawing upon more resources for the long-term development of HOHCS, offering best-in-class and all-round care to those in need in society.

About HOHCS

Over the past 70 years, HOHCS has all along been serving the society with the spirit of “Respecting Life Impacting Life”. Back in the early days, Sister Annie Skau Bernsten and a group of missionaries came to Hong Kong because of the love of God. They took care of the refugees in the barren upland of Tiu Keng Leng who were deemed valueless in the eyes of most people. Inheriting our forerunners’ spirit to serve, HOHCS nowadays offers care to the terminally ill patients, the frail elders, the mentally disabled and other poor and needy, so that they can also live life to the fullest.

We look to impact the lives of our service users while respecting them as individuals. We wish to promote positive values in community so that the love and mercy of God can be shared by more people. Currently, HOHCS’ scope of services includes: Elderly Services, Health Care Services, Rehabilitation Services and Education Services, with the Evangelical Work being well integrated into all of the above.
