The movie “A Simple Life” won the 31st Hong Kong Best Film Award 2012. Yet, the real life version of the movie is even more touching.<\/span><\/p>

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

Dying at the age of 93, “Kam Po” had lived in Jolly Place (the residential care home for elderly precedingly operated by Haven of Hope), which is a gift from her junior master Mr Au Yeung. Mr Au Yeung said, \u201cI once asked her if she had ever thought of getting retired and enjoy her life. At the beginning, she thought that we no longer want to live with her.\u201d Mr Au Yeung further explained to her that he would like to let her enjoy a pleasant life after years of hard work. Consequently, we bought her a flat as gift. Madam Kam liked her new home very much as it was clean and well-tended by attentive and caring nursing staff. She also enjoyed acquainting with her elderly neighbours. Mr Au Yeung visited her once every two or three weeks.<\/span><\/p>

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

Unfortunately, Madam Kam once accidentally fell on the floor and was admitted to hospital. After that, she moved to Jolly Place Care Home (Haven of Hope Residential Care Home for Elderly) on the second floor for recuperation. Mr Au Yeung recalled at that time Madam Kam was frail but very fond of the environment. Encouraged by the chaplain, she converted to Christianity and thus had the courage in face of death. She even requested to talk about asset arrangement with Mr Au Yeung. She thought that all her assets were given by Mr Au Yeung and she wished to return them all to him. However, Mr Au Yeung rejected. He explained, \u201cWell, I don\u2019t want other people to think that I\u2019m greedy of her possessions. So I suggested her making a will and donating all of it to charity. She readily accepted.”<\/span><\/p>

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

\u201cStaff of Haven of Hope are sincere in taking care of the service users, that is why Kam Po can live care-free and end her final stage of life with the presence of her brothers and sisters. I am really happy for her!\u201d Mr Au Yeung added.<\/span><\/p>
